2004, Antwerp Book Capital
Under the name City of Letters, Annette Meyer and Annelies
Verbeke where invited to collaborate on a work of art for
the letter M. This resulted in the MOON project, an installation
exhibited at The Royal Museum for Fine Arts in Antwerp in
April 2005.
The moonlight was brought into the exhibition space with a
strong spotlight,
enlightening three mannequin dolls wearing Moon Boots, all
dressed in business suits made out
of wrapping material for Stimorol gum. The clothing objects
of the three mannequin dolls refers to the moon landing of
the Americans in 1969.
The mannequin dolls where facing a huge projection screen
with a large
projection of the poem 'Moon to earth', written by Annelies
Verbeke. The poem seemed influenced by the magnetic power
of the moon, appearing and disappearing like the tide of the
sea.
Exhibition period at The Royal Museum for Fine Arts in Antwerp:
From April 8th till April 24th 2005.
